This dataset consists of survey responses from 57 African American parents/caregivers whose child was receiving care for ADHD in a university-affiliated pediatric primary care unit. The 47 item questionnaire entitled Attitudes, Satisfaction, Knowledge, and Medication Experiences (ASK-ME) was developed by the primary author to assess views of stimulant medication for ADHD. In addition to demographic information, the dataset includes treatment characteristics, whether or not the child received counseling, and responses to 7 items specifically related to attitude toward medication. This study was to assess the relation between body dissatisfaction and depressive symptoms among black adolescents 12-13 years old, among overweight/obese group and healthy weight group, separately. The dataset includes body dissatisafaction and depressive symptoms at baseline, and two follow-ups in two years. Data types included are socio-demographic information of adolescents, the obesity prevention intervention group status, body composition, and psychosocial variables: e.g. depressive symptoms and body dissatisfaction.
