Description: This dataset is associated with a pilot study investigating the relationship of alcohol consumption to the motives and affective states among residents in a continuing care retirement community. Data were collected from 71 volunteer participants in 3 phases over a 9 day period: an initial face-to-face interview, daily telephone surveys, and a final telephone interview on the last day of the study. The dataset includes sociodemographic variables, physical and mental health measures (including depressive symptoms), daily alcohol consumption statistics utilizing the NIAAA standard drink graphic, and drinking motives assessment data.
